Ahlan wa Sahlan to AHC

Ahlan wa Sahlan!

Since early 2005, the Arabic Heritage Center has grown from a two-week summer camp into an organization offering pre-school through adult weekly Arabic language classes and cultural presentations in local schools. As a result, children are being exposed in positive, exciting ways to their Arab heritage; and young people of diverse backgrounds are engaging in meaningful ways with the Arabic language and culture.

In 2007 Arabic Heritage Center:
· Completed it’s first year of weekly Arabic language classes
· Officially obtained it’s 501(c)(3) status
· Added Pre-School and Adult Arabic language classes and additional paid staff for the ’07 – ’08 school year
· Completed the “Bedouin Tent” which has already been featured in cultural celebrations, such as the International School of Beaverton Culture Week, and the 2007 Salem World Beat Arab World Tent.

We are looking forward in 2008 to completing our second year of weekly Arabic language classes, holding our 3rd Arabic Heritage Summer Camp in August 2008, and participating in school cultural programs through presentations and Bedouin Tent rental.

Thank you and Shukran to all of the wonderful parents, teachers, organizers and supporters who have helped to create such a wonderful organization.

Salam,
Cindy
